BYU–Hawaii Launches Online Mentoring Platform

Following the success of BYU–Hawaii’s first Asia Pacific Career Conference, Alumni & Career Services has developed a new online mentoring and networking platform to prepare students for the next conference. The platform creates a private community of students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, employers, and other friends of the university and provides tools for mentoring, networking, supporting, and learning.

“Members can engage with one another in one-off, flash mentoring sessions where they give and receive advice and encouragement,” says Mark Macdonald, director of Alumni & Career Services. “Or they can opt to pair up for more structured, ongoing mentoring relationships that are guided by specific goals and timelines.”

BYU–Hawaii launched the platform in summer 2018. The university’s success has led to the platform being adopted by every university in the Church Educational System. Next year the platform will expand to include Self-Reliance Services, effectively giving platform access to Church members throughout the world.
