A Prompting to Apply

February 2024

Alli Barlow with her mother outside an LDS templeAlli Barlow started her journey at BYU-Idaho during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. She has watched the campus return to a place where people make a conscious effort to talk to those they don’t know and focus on lifting others where they stand—something President Meredith has encouraged.

Barlow didn’t know BYU-Idaho even existed until her junior year of high school, but she felt prompted to apply. “It’s such a special place. I’m really grateful for it,” she says. “It’s very student-focused. My professors take time to talk with me one on one and it feels like I’m friends with them. I actually babysit for one of them.”

At BYU-Idaho, Barlow enjoys the beautiful campus, the friends she’s made in her ward, and playing volleyball and flag football in intramural leagues.

Barlow received the BYU-Idaho Grant and is working on getting a summer internship. She is considering majoring in economics and looks forward to pursuing a master’s degree after her graduation.
